The Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP) Program offers targeted education and tools for professionals focused on addressing substance use issues in workplace environments. Participants will learn effective assessment techniques, intervention strategies, and regulatory compliance protocols essential for fostering safe and productive workspaces.

Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP) This covers: The initial SAP evaluation A personalized treatment or education plan after the initial SAP evaluation The follow-up SAP evaluation All completion documentation sent to their DER and updates in the Clearinghouse (if FMCSA-related) Steps to Complete: Schedule the Initial SAP Evaluation Done virtually, usually within 24–48 hours after payment. Receive a Recommendation Based on the evaluation, we’ll recommend an education or treatment plan. The employee chooses their provider and works out payment directly with them. With DOT rules, we cannot evaluate an employee and provide their education or treatment; they have to be referred out or choose their own education or treatment provider. Complete the Program The employee completes the required education or treatment. Follow-Up Evaluation Once they show us proof of completion, we schedule their follow-up evaluation. Clearinghouse Update or SAP Report If FMCSA-related, we update the Clearinghouse. If not FMCSA-related, we send a SAP report confirming they’re eligible to return to duty. If a return-to-duty test is needed, the employer handles that. Time Frame: Most employees are wrapped up in 1–2 weeks, depending on the recommendation. If the issue is more severe and requires additional treatment, it may take longer. (* If more sessions are needed after the first week, that is an additional cost for the client)
